Life is Good Award

I received a lovely  and very timely surprise in the way of an award today from my fellow blogger and Crazy Cat Lady.  She passed this "Life is Good" award on to me.  Thank you my friend!!!!

For this award, you must thank the person who bestowed the award upon you as well as link back to their blog.  You must answer the following questions and then pass the award to 6 other blogs of your choice.

1. If you blog anonymously are you happy doing it that way; if you are not anonymous, do you wish you had started out anonymously so you could be anonymous now?

I started out trying to keep my identity private, but it made it hard to talk about some of the personal issues and promoting my business without giving up some information.  I actually am a very private person for the most part and am concerned about keeping our family safe.

2.Describe one incident that shows your inner stubborn side:

There are a lot of incidents that come to mind, especially since I refuse to let certain people try to bully me anymore.  I would say that an example was finally getting my dog Chandler housebroken was a sheer act of stubbornness on my part - either that or he was going to be a yard dog :)

3.What do you see when you really look at yourself in the mirror?

A woman who wonders where the heck the time has gone.

4. What is your favorite summer cold drink?

Hawaiian Punch

5. When you take time for yourself, what do you do?

Lay down and read a good book without being disturbed.

6.Is there something you still want to accomplish in your life? What is it?

I want to finish my English Lit degree.

7. When you attended school, were you the class clown, the class overachiever , the shy person, or always ditching?

I was an overachiever as well as one who ditched a lot senior year because I had enough credits to graduate as a junior.  I loved school and it came very easy to me.

8. If you close your eyes and want to visualize a very poignant moment of your life what would you see?

Dancing under the full moon in the forest clearing at midnight with my brand new husband on our wedding night with no one but the frogs, crickets, and other critters to watch us.

9. Is it easy for you to share your true self in your blog or are you more comfortable writing posts about other people or events?

I tend to censor some of what I say regarding personal and family matters as I know there are many different people reading my posts.

10. If you had the choice to sit down and read or talk on the phone, which would you do and why?

When I was a kid (and when I was dating Mr. MoonCat) I could talk on the phone for hours.  Now it annoys me and I would much rather read - of course reading is one of my favorite activities anyway.

I pass this award to:
  1. Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell
  2. Rosey Little Things
  3. 365 Cat Ladies
  4. Laughing Horse Art
  5. Mother Moon's Message
  6. Wicked Awesome Books
So if you get a chance, check out the great blogs above and be sure to go by Crazy Cat Lady's Library to have some fun.

Horses of Course

Many of you have asked how Wedgie (aka the Wedge, Phantom, and butthead) has been doing.  Well, he turned 4 months old on September 22nd and he's quite the big boy.  Dad is talking about weaning him early as he doesn't nurse near as much as he pigs out on his mama's grain and hay.

As usual I had a hard time getting photos of him.  He either wanted to run and play with me or he wouldn't get his head out of the feeder.  So I only have the two pictures today, but I'll get some more in the next week or so just to show you what a little pill he is.

In other horse news, Mr. MoonCat has a new horse.  His buddy Whiskey just wasn't cutting it when it comes to working cattle.  Whiskey would much rather cruise along the trails and go for long scenic rides than participate in the cow events.  So he'll be going to a new home with someone who enjoys just trail riding.  He's been a great first horse for the hubby while he's been learning about riding and life in general with the equine bunch.

Whiskey

This is the only photo I managed to snap of the new addition this morning.  We were in a hurry, so hopefully I'll get some updated shots later in the week with Mr. MoonCat doing his thing.  "Swifty" is the name my Dad bestowed upon the new guy.  In case you're wondering, it's actually an oxymoron.  The horse is a bit on the lazy side..  But as usual, if the naming is left to Pops, he'll name him according to where he came from.  The previous owner was named Swift so there ya have it.  (I warned hubby...)

Swifty
I know he looks similar to Whiskey in coloring, but Swifty is actually a registered Paint Horse whereas Whiskers is a Quarter Horse.  Swifty is a real sweetie, very gentle and able to teach Mr. MoonCat a whole lot more than Whiskey could.  The hubby is excited because this new horse LIKES to work cattle!

So that's the happenings for now.  In closing I'll leave you with a shot of Adolph (Dad's dog that he got from his neighbor, yup - named Adolph) sharing his doggy bag from breakfast with the chickens.

Yummm..biscuits and gravy

Back in a Few Days

I'm taking a few days off from the computer and will be back with winners and posts soon.

For those of you who have been following this blog from the beginning, you'll know that we've been dealing with Mom's monumental fight with cancer for a third time since 1994.  After beating this dreaded disease this time for almost a year longer than the doctors had predicted, Mom passed away this week.  She was an amazing woman who is going to be missed by more people than she could have ever realized.  Thank you Mama, we loved you beyond measure.

This drawing is now CLOSED

We've been waiting for this day for months, it's finally time for BlogFest 2010 to begin!

BlogFest 2010

Organized by Cinnamon at A Journey of Books, this "blog run" event started this morning and will run until midnight, Sunday, September 12th.  Several hundred bloggers are participating and ALL are giving away prizes!!!!

Each blog will be giving something away, including ME!  The idea of this BlogFest is to bring additional traffic and awareness to blogs that you may not be familiar with.  You can choose to visit one, many or all of the blogs who are playing along.  At the end of this post you'll find a link to the next blogger on the list.  (Be sure to enter my giveaway before you hop on outta here!)  You can choose to visit the blogs in order by following those links or you can go to the great Tracking Site that Cinnamon has created HERE.  It will help you keep track of those sites you've visited and where you would like to go next.  The BONUS is that each time you track one of the blogs through that site, you will be entered in a mega drawing that is full of lots of great prizes.  ~This is in addition to the prizes each blogger is offering on their site!

So, onto my drawing.  I'm having a doggie theme this weekend.  My prize is for two books:

Velociraptor Chickens

You know how scientists claim that our avian species are all descended from the dinosaurs?  I think I have proof that a few of my chickens can claim that ancestry...

Mr. Random Number Generator decided that #3 would be our lucky winner:

#3 just happens to be Paula who said:  Oh I would love to win a copy!! I'm only on Drums Of Autumn, but I think this series is wonderful. So far Outlander is my fave, but I love em all. Jamie and Claire just touch my heart!
 Congratulations Paula!

And a huge

Humming Hummers and an Update

Sorry I've been so absent lately.  We've been pretty darn busy.  This week was a great one as my Ant (intentionally spelled-she's very short!) and my Unk came down to visit from Idaho.  We had a lovely time with them.  Their stay went too quick though.  It seems like the time just blows by during the summer months and I can't seem to get everything done that I'd like to.

Mom is doing ok, not great, but ok.  Last week we had a 112 degree day with dangerously unhealthy air.  It just knocked her for a loop and she's still just starting to recover a bit from those three or four really bad air/heat days.  We're a bit cooler now and soooo ready for the fall.

The garden had such a whacked out spring and summer.  We are just now getting the bulk of the tomatoes ripening.  We planted them in stages hoping to spread the harvest out a bit, but NOOOO they're all hitting at once.  I'm up to my eyebrows in tomaters!  Of course, we'll be loving it in the winter when we have those sun-dried tomatoes and the sauces..yum.

I decided to show you some of our busiest residents here at MoonCat Farms. ( I am working on getting better photos.)

We've rearranged the furniture on the front porch so we can sit out there in the evening.

The bonus is getting to enjoy the activity at the new feeders we've hung for out little flying friends.  They're just now getting used to us.
